Chair of the FECP’s Insurance Sub Committee, and member of the Sub Advisory Committee.
With almost 30 years’ experience in the Education sector, including being owner of an award-winning Montessori, Sonya Duggan is passionate about Early Years Education and Care and has always lobbied for Quality and Holistic Education, Equality and a level playing field for providers.
Sonya began her career in the Middle East, where she used some of her many qualifications to work in an array of educational environments, from international primary and language schools, to third-level institutions. In 1999, she returned to Ireland and settled in Co. Laois, where she has spent the last 21 years as owner, manager and teacher – what she jokingly describes as a ‘jack of all trades’ – at two Montessori schools, both full day care and sessional.
Straight-talking, fair-minded and wholly dedicated, Sonya understands the nuances and
complexities of the Early Years sector and the many challenges it faces, particularly the continuing fallout from Covid 19. As someone who ‘lives and breathes’ Early Years Education, she wants only the best for students, families and staff alike, and is fully committed to achieving that together with her colleagues.
